Biography

Anastasia Rachmanidou was born in Thessaloniki Greece, where she studied Medicine. Following general surgical training she further specialised in Otorhinolaryngology (European Training Scheme).

She then moved to Edinburgh, Scotland where she completed higher surgical training in Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery.

In 1999, she completed her studies for the Diploma in Forensic Medicine from the University of Edinburgh. She was a Research Registrar in Rhinology with the Academic Department of Respiratory Medicine, St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, which gave her a great insight in allergy and strengthened her links with respiratory physicians and Allergists.

Anastasia Rachmanidou became a Consultant ENT Surgeon at University Hospital Lewisham, London in 2000. She is currently a Senior Consultant in the same department.

She deals with general ENT pathologies but also specialises in Rhinology (endoscopic surgery of the nose and para-nasal sinuses / FESS, balloon sinuplasty, septoplasty, functional and cosmetic septorhinoplasty, allergic rhinitis and allergy testing, nasal polyps), Paediatric Otolaryngology (tonsillectomyadenoidectomyOSAglue ear & grommets, allergy, pinnaplasty surgery for prominent ears), snoring and anti-snoring procedures (palatoplasty, somnoplasty).

Anastasia Rachmanidou is a lead mentor for Coblation (radio-frequency) dissection in the UK. Her audit and research projects focus on the use of Coblation for adenotonsillectomy and nasal turbinate reduction as well as palatal surgery. She has completed studies on the diagnosis of obstruction level for simple snoring and / or OSA.

She has acquired qualifications in Management and Teaching and has a great interest in Medical Education.
